You can obtain the 3-part yellow Application for Professional Development Assistance Form from:
- the CTA Office
- your school office
- the School Board office
- your school based PD Rep

When does the form need to be submitted?” open=”no”]The assistance application form MUST be submitted and stamped before our office closes 2 weeks prior to the FIRST day of any activity.[/fusion_toggle][fusion_toggle title=”3. Where does the form need to be submitted?” open=”no”]The form needs to be submitted to the CTA office.
Please note school mail only moves on Wednesday, it can take up to two weeks for the forms to arrive at the CTA office.[/fusion_toggle][fusion_toggle title=”4. What needs to be submitted with the form?” open=”no”]You must submit a copy of conference details which should include, fee, date and location of the activity.
If you are submitting your registration receipt, please keep a copy as you are required to submit it with the conference report after ATTENDING the activity. WE WILL NOT KEEP COPIES OF THIS RECEIPT, and it must be resubmitted.[/fusion_toggle][fusion_toggle title=”5. What fees are reimbursed? ” open=”no”]The amounts that are reimbursed vary and are governed by the CTA/CSB in-service policy. See the detailed guidelines below. Generally however a portion of registration, accommodation and transportation for 2 (two) successful applications per year will be paid. You are required to submit a conference report, along with all receipts for reimbursement within one month of the last day of the Professional Development activity you applied for. You can submit your conference report and receipts as a PDF attachment, not as a photo, nor in the body of an email. The PDF must be in a printable format or it can not be processed. Submission option for THIS STEP ONLY: pd@cta43.org. You will then be reimbursed for approved costs by cheque.

Fee Reimbursement Guidelines
The CTA/School Board joint fund is intended to provide assistance to defray costs of those attending in-service functions. Approvals and allocations are governed by the CTA/CSB in-service policy and rulings. Neither attendance nor the entire cost of attendance is automatic. If you have questions, please call the CTA Office.

The following includes the changes put forward and carried by the Special General Meeting on June 17, 2025. All changes can be viewed in detail here.

3. Financial Support Guidelines (to be considered as maximum amounts) as per Policy 9
3.1. Registration amounts shall be:
- 100% of first $160.00
- 50% of the next $590.00
- up to 50% of any amount over $750, subject to PD Committee review.
3.2. A newly certified teacher (defined as having received their teaching certificate within the last five years) would receive:
- 100% of the first $230
- 50% of the next $430
- Up to 50% of any amount over $750, subject to a PD Committee review.
3.3.
Accommodation – $60 per required night per applicant at conferences hosted 100 km or more from 1080 Winslow Avenue, Coquitlam, BC. Which nights are required will be determined by the CTA PD Chairperson in consultation with the workshop agenda and the applicant.
3.4.
Individual reimbursement will not include financial assistance for meals, taxes, parking and TTOC coverage.
3.5. Credit and non-credit courses are covered by Course Fee Assistance Forms available at the Board Office and therefore receive no assistance from the Joint CTA/SBO Professional Development Committee Fund.
3.6. Transportation:
- 1/4 of airfare (not including taxes and fees) or
- $30.00 reimbursement for driving to conference locations that are 25 km or more from 1080 Winslow Avenue, Coquitlam, BC.
- 1/4 base ferry cost for a standard vehicle (not including taxes/fees).
3.7. PSA membership fees will be included in the reimbursement formula when a teacher attends a PSA conference and is required to pay a PSA membership.
3.8. Courses and/or workshops that provide credits for post secondary education are not eligible for pd reimbursement, regardless of whether the teacher intends to use those credits. The course fee assistance fund, administered by the board office, may provide financial assistance for these courses.
